National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

NOAA’s Assessment and Restoration Division (ARD) is responsible for evaluating and restoring coastal and estuarine habitats damaged by hazardous waste releases, oil spills, and vessel groundings. Exa Data & Mapping has a long-term relationship with NOAA ARD managing a wide variety of data in support of CERCLA sites, oil spills including the Deepwater Horizon event, the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) including contaminant chemistry and bioassay data. These data can be viewed on the DIVER website, which allows the public to search, visualize, and download data connected to hazardous waste releases, oil spills, marine debris and vessel groundings.

International Seabed Authority

The International Seabed Authority is an intergovernmental organization established under the Law of the Sea Convention to administer the resources of the seabed outside the boundaries of national jurisdictions. Central to the Authority’s mission is the management of information. Exa is involved in a multi-phased project to develop a Data Management Strategy and a data-driven website to provide public access to the valuable and interesting information relating to the deep seabed environment.

US Army Corps of Engineers San Francisco

The Dredged Material Management Office (DMMO) is a multi-agency organization responsible for making suitability determinations for dredged material proposed for disposal in San Francisco Bay. Exa has led several phases of a long-term project to develop a data-driven website that is used by multiple agencies to make regulatory decisions.

 

US Army Corps of Engineers New England District

Exa has an extensive history of supporting the New England District of the U.S. Corps of Engineers in the management of dredging and dredged material disposal under the auspices of the DAMOS Program. DAMOS (Disposal Area MOnitoring System) is a program started in 1977 to manage and monitor offshore dredged material disposal sites from Long Island Sound to Maine. Staff at Exa have provided support in managing monitoring data, conducting statistical and trend analyses, as well as documenting, illustrating, and presenting monitoring results for the environmental and dredging communities.

California Ocean Science Trust

The California Ocean Science Trust is a non-profit agency created by state statute that connects government, science, and communities to promote healthy and productive coastal and ocean ecosystems. Exa worked with the OST to conduct a Needs Assessment early in the process of creating an information management system to support a Marine Protected Area (MPA) network.

Government of British Columbia - Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy is responsible for the effective protection, management and conservation of B.C.’s water, land, air and living resources. Exa staff and partners have worked with the Ministry to generate Water Quality Assessment reports for several key watersheds in British Columbia.

INSPIRE Environmental

INSPIRE Environmental is an integrated team of skilled marine environmental scientists and analysts trained to interpret and contextualize seafloor health. Exa Data & Mapping has worked extensively with INSPIRE scientists on various projects including monitoring studies at New England dredged material disposal areas and assessing the biological and ecological impacts from off-shore wind farms.

Battelle

The Environmental Assessment and Monitoring Division of Battelle provides comprehensive environmental services for site assessment, characterization, management, monitoring and closure. Exa Data & Mapping has supported Battelle with the assessment of impacts and recovery at dredged material disposal sites in New England, and a remediation project in one of the Great Lakes Areas of Concern.

US Army Corps of Engineers Seattle District

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Seattle District is responsible for managing projects to maintain channels and other structural features for safe navigation in the Puget Sound region and on the Washington coast. Maintaining channels requires keeping them at serviceable and reliable depths and widths by dredging and other means. Exa Data & Mapping has supported the Seattle District in several harbor and federal navigation sampling and testing projects through several task orders.

 
 

Friends of the San Juans

Friends of the San Juans was founded in 1979 to preserve the beauty, character, and wildness of the San Juan Islands in Washington State. Friends works locally and throughout the region using innovative public-private partnerships, applied science, legal advocacy, and community-based initiatives to protect the land, water and sea today and for future generations. Exa supports the Friends public advocacy and science-based outreach through several projects to share data with the public through interactive data exploration tools on the Friends website.
