Dawn Smorong

ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST

Dawn Smorong worked over 20 years experience as an environmental scientist on projects in Canada and the US. She specialized in ecological risk assessment, environmental data management, guidelines development, and contaminated sediments. During the course of her career, Ms. Smorong  gained extensive experience working with computer applications to acquire and organize data, design and develop databases, create GIS projects, and analyze data.  The majority of this experience involved aquatic assessments, for which Ms. Smorong collected and analyzed data for water, sediment, fish communities, fish tissue concentrations, benthic communities, and wildlife.

Dawn supervised many technical work teams, developing project workplans, developing and managing project budgets, and balancing client needs and regulatory concerns. Dawn holds a BSc in Agriculture from the University of British Columbia and a Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Environmental Science from Capilano College. Her work as an environmental scientist has resulted in seven published journal articles and more than 50 report publications related to the assessment and management of natural resources.
