NOAA Site Case Data Management Support
National oceanic and atmospheric administration (NOAA)
The Assessment and Restoration Division (ARD) of NOAA is responsible for evaluating and restoring coastal and estuarine habitats damaged by hazardous waste releases, oil spills, and vessel groundings. Exa Data & Mapping Services has a long-term relationship with NOAA ARD integrating contaminant chemistry and bioassay data into analysis applications such as Query Manager and DIVER in support of the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) and CERCLA site cases. Exa has incorporated datasets from a wide variety of sources and data types into a standard database structure; developed database code to improve data management; developed data templates and data processing applications in MS™ Excel and MS™ Access for use by external data providers to ensure data completeness and quality; provided extensive documentation of database applications; provided training for scientific staff to use data templates and database applications; and developed extensive programming routines for quality assurance.
