Peggy Myre, Founder of Exa Data & Mapping, worked over 30 years building bridges between environmental science and information technology. With degrees in Geology (BS) and Oceanography (MS), Ms. Myre applied her skills in database management, programming, visualization and GIS to more efficiently and effectively managing burgeoning volumes of data collected for environmental and marine-related projects. She recruited like-minded scientists with specialized skills in database management, statistics, programming, validation, or other software. Ms. Myre demonstrated leadership in her role as project manager for a variety of large projects for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, NOAA, EPA, as well as interagency groups, states, ports, and international agencies.
Ms. Myre’s scientific expertise includes dredged material monitoring, contaminated sediment assessment and management, and sediment guideline development. She has applied her oceanographic background to projects that assess impacts of marine outfalls, designation of marine protected areas, dredged material disposal, oil spills, and seabed mineral exploration. She has a passion for strategic planning and public outreach, building user-driven systems for managing information to optimize use and delivery of the data to interested parties. Her work history includes projects in New England, New York, California, Texas, and the Northwest. Ms. Myre brings practical experience in marine and geological field work that informs her ability to understand the full spectrum of data collection. Finally, she has a 25-year record of publication and presentation at environmental, dredging, and information management conferences.
