PFAS Multi-Laboratory Validation Study
Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP)
The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERP) undertook a multi-laboratory validation study (MLVS) of draft method 1633 for PFAS compounds. Conducted as a joint effort by DoD SERDP and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Office of Water (OW), the study was designed to provide validating data for the method in critical regulated matrices in aqueous matrices (wastewater, surface waters, groundwaters, landfill leachate), solids (soil, sediment, biosolids) and tissues (fish and clam).
Exa’s role in the MLVS was to host a GCC High secure platform for multiple government agencies and laboratories to collaborate, check the EDDs provided by the laboratories and data validators, maintain the database of laboratory results, provide progress reports, and calculate statistics based on final results. Upon completion of the project, the EPA published Method 1633.
