Project and Testing Data Website

The Dredged Material Management Office (DMMO) is a multi-agency organization responsible for making suitability determinations for dredged material proposed for disposal in San Francisco Bay. Exa has led several phases of a long-term project to develop a website that could be used by multiple agencies to make regulatory decisions (http://www.dmmosfbay.org/). The first phase was to conduct and develop a Mission Needs Statement (MNS). Using the Needs Assessment as the foundation for the project, Exa worked on a multi-disciplinary team to design and develop the website, database, and supporting tools.

The website was designed for several levels of access:

• Contractors - submit standardized templates and other documentation on dredging projects

• DMMO Project Managers - access confidential data and reports from contractors prior to approving them for public access

• General Public - query the approved data through both standard and user-defined queries

Exa was tasked with developing a database structure for project, survey, and test data; programming a utility to track dredged material volumes associated with trigger levels associated with specific disposal sites; populating an open-source MySQL database with existing sediment quality, disposal volumes, and readily available permit data; designing and developing web-based queries for the website for user groups of different skills and website access.
